Thotar provides you with a number of 3 taming rods, every one is different and allows you tame beasts in the next order: Dire Mottled Boar, Surf Crawler and finally an Armored Scorpid.

After getting finished the taming Element of the Quest chain, you have got to head to Orgrimmar and speak to Ormak Grimshot while in the Valley of Honor as a way to unlock your companion pet managing abilities: Tame Beast; Feed Pet; Revive Pet; and Beast Training.
